Driving Hope to Those Who Need It Most
Carisa McCarty’s son Chase was just 22 months old when he was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare form of liver cancer. Less than a year later, the family received the devastating news that their other son Xander—at only seven months old, was also diagnosed with the same type of cancer. Already suffering the emotional hardship, the family did not have health insurance and faced considerable financial difficulty as well. They turned to the Canadian Cancer Society for help.
For families like the McCarty’s, having a transportation service readily available for their every medical need is a necessity to curing their two preschool son’s cancers. Without the Canadian Cancer Society and support from companies like Jiffy Lube and Suds Car Wash, the McCarty boys and many other cancer patients wouldn’t be able to receive the necessary treatments they needed to survive this disease.
Today, Xander and Chase are healthy and active boys that both go to approximately 200 appointments each per year as they work through other chemotherapy‐related side effects. The McCartys continue to rely on the Canadian Cancer Society transportation services to get the boys to and from their appointments.
To help support the transportation service and families like the McCartys, visit your local Jiffy Lube or Suds Car Wash and pick up your Drive Hope booklet that contains information on the program and a variety of coupons for basic car maintenance needs. Jiffy Lubes Drive Hope program book retails for $3.00 and proceeds go to support the Canadian Cancer Society transportation service.
